#29 Signature Page Generator
I created a GPT that generates signature pages!
AI will change the world, but how will it change M&A? I want to focus on AIโs impact on M&A in this newsletter. I am not an expert on either M&A or AI, but I want to learn about both topics and how they intersect. I thought there might be others in my situation (or people who are experts in one field or the other) who would find information on M&A and AI helpful in their careers, so I created this newsletter to track and share what I learn.
Can AI Create Signature Pages?
Creating signature pages is a notorious junior associate task. This begs the question: Can ChatGPT create signature pages?
For those who do not know, junior associates are often tasked with creating and tracking signature pages in preparation for closing a transaction. Creating signature pages is a relatively simple task, ripe for AI automation.
First Attempt
Here is my first attempt at using ChatGPT to create a signature page. I used ChatGPTโs โCode interpreter and data analysisโ function to create a PDF of the signature page. Here is the prompt I used (after some fine-tuning in previous prompts):
This is the resulting PDF:
This is not horrible from the generic ChatGPT without special instructions. It has the entity names, the correct formatting, and the correct names and titles of the parties. The most obvious defect is cutting off the text in the first sentence. It also included a lot of space between the lines of text.
Second Attempt
Here is the result after some fine-tuning:
As you can see, this result was much better. The text is fully visible and there is less space between the lines of text.
AI Signature Page Generator
After seeing how well ChatGPT could create signature pages without specialized instructions, I created a tailored GPT for creating signature pages!
I programmed the GPT to ask several questions to format the signature pages. I am no signature page expert, so any feedback is welcome for what other questions the model should ask before creating signature pages.
Here are the results from my GPT after answering the questions:
Iโd say that is pretty good! The format looks professional and correct, there is not a lot of space between the lines, and most importantly, it accurately included my responses to the initial questions.
To make this tool usable, I decided to leave the โnameโ and โcompany nameโ blank to protect the confidentiality of the parties to the agreement. Itโs generally a bad idea to disclose confidential information to ChatGPT!
If you want access to the GPT, please reach out and I will send you the link!
